Welcome to Northgate
Several popular neighborhoods make up the Northgate area, at the southeast area of Walnut Creek, all to the Northgate entrance to Mt. Diablo State Park, and the top-rated Northgate High School, part of the Mt. Diablo Unified School District. Here’s just a few of the neighborhoods that make up the Northgate area that is home to hiking, biking, golfing and several swim teams.
Bordered by Ygnacio Valley and Oak Grove Roads, popular neighborhoods include the Woodlands, an area of ranch homes established in the 1960s evoking that “Leave it to Beaver” vibe. The Woodlands Homeowner’s Association hosts many social events including 4th of July parade and barbecue, and the local swim team and Valle Verde Elementary add to the community.
Rancho Paraiso, an executive community of estate-like homes built in the 1990s and nestled into the foothills at the base of Mt. Diablo, backs to open space and is surrounded by equestrian ranches, trails, and even a growing winemaking community, while still close to shopping centers.
Rancho San Miguel, built in the 1950s is most noted for its predominately Eichler architecture. 563 homes on 176 acres were built across from Heather Farm Park, separated by Ygnacio Valley Road. A community pool, swim team and neighborhood events add to the neighborhood feel, served by Walnut Acres Elementary.
